Processor:

  •  PC or Server with Pentium Class Processor.

Operating systems (OS):

  •  Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later version.
  •  Microsoft Windows XP.
  •  Microsoft Windows Vista (Only for Stations. Not in the server).
  • LAN environment
Stations must have a 32 bits OS if you want to use the documents template window.
Stations’ Operating System can  be 64 bits for everything else in the system.
Server can be either 32 or 64 bits when running on a LAN environment.
  • Remote desktop connections (like Windows Terminal Services):
Stations can be either 32 or 64 bits when connecting to the server via Remote Desktop.
Server must be running a 32 bits OS.1GB of RAM minimum.
Check with the remote access software Vendor for specific recommendations.
  • Remote access software is not included

 Memory:

  •  256 megabytes (MB) of RAM minimum; 512 MB or higher recommended.
If using Windows Vista 2GB are commended.

Hard disk:

  • Installation: a minimum of 70MB of space for the installation (program and the database, this does not include imported PDFs).
  • Additional: 200 MB per year for a typical company, processing about 500 new cases per month (this does not include imported PDFs).

Display:

  •  VGA or higher resolution monitor.
  • 1024 x 768 of screen resolution (or more) is required.

Printer:

  •  Inkjet or Laser (recommended).

Scanner

  • Direct scanning: requires a scanner using a TWAIN driver capable of scanning to GIF files.
  • Network scanning: requires a scanner capable of saving scanned files as PDF on a network folder.

Other requirements:

  • Faxing: Service from eFax or similar Company is required (not included with your license of SX3).
  • Emails:  MS Outlook or MS Outlook Express must be installed in each station you will be sending emails from.
Must use POP3 accounts with standard SMTP server configuration ports. Some configurations (e.g. yahoo.com, aol.com godaddy.com) are not compatible.

System Key:

  •  A USB port must be available on the server or one of the stations to connect the SX3 dongle key. This key must be plugged to the selected computer and shared to all the SX3 users at all times in order for the software to work.

Server installation:

The installation in the server only requires:

  • Creation of a shared folder named \SX3.
  • Configuring the shared permissions on \SX3 folder so all the SX3 users must have full rights access to it.
  • Storing the main database files and applications in this folder.
  • Sharing the USB dongle key to all the users (if connected to the server).

Stations installation:

Installation of SX3 in the workstation (LAN stations) is very simple.

  • A folder named \SX3LOCAL will be created in the C:\ drive (C:\SX3LOCAL\) of each station the first time you log into SX3. This folder contains some empty files used for temporal catalogs and it is kept in the C:\ drive to reduce network traffic.
  • An icon to the application is created on the station’s desktop. This icon points to the application in your server.
  • Sharing the USB dongle key to all the users (if connected to a station).
